Vitamin P -- Pleasure

Monday, January 13, 2014

I was thinking today about the idea of eating for health vs. the idea of eating for pleasure.
I ran across a very interesting article about this and thought that I'd share it with you.

I already think that some times I have a love affair with what I make. But the artic emoticon le was very interesting. I had bought white dishes so that I would enjoy my meals more, and stop laying them in the sink, where I would chip them. and the psychology behind my thinking was very poor, because if I put expensive pieces in the sink there's more of a chance that it will get chipped. so now no matter how much I cook, I wash all the dishes. eva

Thanks for sharing. I have not been able to read and understand all of the article. I think the idea is that we should get pleasure from our food?
But that raises new, important questions.
Like: what is 'pleasure', what gives us pleasure and isn't it so that we enjoy junkfood because it is an 'acquired taste' and we can also learn to appreciate foods that at first sight / taste we'd call 'bland'?

Loved the article! Thanks for posting! I find it interesting though that I have a friend who has lived to be 92, who hates to eat! She is very healthy beyond some age related decline. This doesn't fit with this article, but even so I agree with the article and want to look into it more! If you don't mind I may also post the link to this site in a blog.

Love it - the Mediterranean people eat in pleasurable situations with loved ones around - and actually take time to sit down to a meal together!

That's what we need to do, eat to live, not live to eat! emoticon
