First full work week...

Sure...I was in meetings all day training....and my brain turned to tapioca by Wedesday...but overall...HaPpInEsS!!! emoticon

The week went fast most of the time...there were a few lulls here and there because the facility is gearing up for the incoming students (I work at a college now...just in case I didn't mention it before....or ever. LOL) and I am in a time crunch to train a crew under me and know what the procedures are for 100 different scenarios that may occur...add getting to know people and the regular daily duties to that and we have a full day! LOL

But everyone I have met is nice...and eager to train me. Advice on procedure is more than welcome, because I have to tweak things to my own system anyway.

Now....this is a 9 to 5 work week...and VERY new to me and my family, since I am coming off of a lot of part time, weird hours (flexed hours and mostly at night and on Saturdays) and I now commute a 20-30 minutes away. AND I only get a half hour lunch....which means I have to bring in my own food or rely on someone going out to some fast food joint to bring it back to me...and THAT is SO not going to happen: a) bad for you and b) total waste of money.

Being the newbie...I am clueless as to where and when to eat, etc. etc... but it soon dawned on me that I had a lot more control that I thought I had. There IS down time here and there for a 15 minute break to fuel myself. There IS time for what I used to do when I worked for my dad, which was at 10 am, grab my almonds and water and go to town for a quick burst of nutrition. And EVERYone is in the same boat of eating when you can since the day can totally get away from all of us.

Therefore....I will be devising my own lunches and getting some variety here and there of my own accord.. and since there is absolutely NO food source there... it all lies on me as to what to bring in! THAT is probably the biggest plus there is! (yes, I am forever the optimist!) and it really has not changed all that much from my other p/t jobs but for the fact that I am on a steady 9-5 schedule.

Well.....that being said...I kinda lost all the Christmas weight in one week. (It was 3 pounds - please don't hate me) and the pants I bought for work, right after the new year (and I knew I was bloated up a lot)...well, they are kinda baggy now. emoticon emoticon which means I look like I have no butt (which I don't anyway) BUT I work with mostly men, so should I really care all that much? Meh, probably not. emoticon

I honestly really loved this first week... It feel like it was a long long time coming. 2013 was rough... a ton of learning about myself mostly, a ton of learning about others, a ton of transitioning from one thing to another to another, a ton of worry, a ton of stress, a ton of strife, a ton of more learning that I didn't know I needed about myself: what I do and don't do when things get super-rough... what my family can handle (which is a lot!! - I love them so for that!)

So thanks for all the well wishes!!! They are working! emoticon

    I am so happy and proud for you and of you! I really miss our chats! But sounds like things couldn't be going any better for you. I love how you self-talk and talk to us in your blogs. You really speak "my language".

    You know, you have really learned sooooo much in these last few years, that you will be amazing in this new job. Things happen for a reason! All the things you mentioned are stressful, just by having a full time job. But you have certainly learned much more than the "average bear", that you are going to be able to conquer these things better than most people. It is sooooo good that you know this in-and-out, and live by it, and understand it. Most people get in a job, get soooo stressed out, and let stress run their life (I know, I've been there), and stress eat, to the point that it just gets out of control. Too bad they don't teach us these things early on in life. Life would be less stressful for sure, if we learned out how handle it sooner!

    Well done on being so mindful as far as eating is concerned. Newbies in working places tend to do what everybody else is doing and sometimes that simply means... junk food! But you know better, of course!

    I am so glad your new job is working well! 2013 was a hard year for you. You deserve to be happy and excited about your work. It sounds like you have m uch more responsibility and that you are enjoying it.

    I pack lunches ahead. It helps to batch cook things and freeze them for the week..then add a salad. I even use baby spinach for sped.
