Getting into the swing of things again

Thursday, January 09, 2014

Oh my, it's one of those situations when you just wish you hadn't, but did...

I've been on a break for too long, and it is time to get back on track. I have not done a good job of sticking to my plan. Actually I totally abandoned it in May. I need to get to the fitness center tonight, and that should be enough to get me steered back in the right direction.

I feel bad to those of you that were so supportive of me. I feel bad too because I can't deny that I didn't enjoy just relaxing and not worrying about things over the summer. It was just hard to motivate myself again.

The first step for me is to get my butt over to the fitness center again. Once I am there I will be ok, but I have not been there in a long time. My brother-in-law has a membership there now, and we plan to work out together. I will use the same plan. I just need to drop 15 pounds from where I'm at.

I realized last year that I lost too much. My goal is going to be 183 pounds instead of 175. I will start with strength earlier on though instead of just doing cardio. I was doing a little weight training last year, but I'll do more earlier on this time around.

Anyway... again I know I can do this. I feel bad for just stopping last May. It was going to be a week, and it ended up being longer. Maybe someone else can learn from my mistake? I hope so..

There is no need to feel bad. The support was not a one way street. You helped motivate me and I really appreciated that. Did you get to the gym? I went even though it was snowing because I missed a few days. Which was harder, getting back to your diet or getting back to exercise? For me it was the diet after indulging a bit too much during the holidays. I was motivated by this recent Spark Coach challenge: Today, we'll challenge you to turn down one thing in order to turn up your results. You can do it.

We have more than you do so far. And this cold weather is going to drive me batty. I was in the UP over Christmas and we had about twice as much as the Negaunee area so far. (I know you'll pass us up before too long).

    Thanks for the comments!

I have dropped 2 lbs already just by watching the calories and shoveling snow. Time to do some cardio though!

I completely understand! I fell off the wagon at the end of last summer. Hey, at least you're back now! No need to spend energy feeling bad, especially if you're on the right track once more. Have fun at the gym!
