Talk to me about your Fitbit Zip

Tuesday, January 07, 2014

Talk to me about your Fitbit Zip. I do not have a smart phone. I use Spark with a computer. I have been waiting for the little $59.95 gizmo to go on sale after I saw Spark plugging it a few months ago. Right now Target is offering it at the regular price BUT you get a $10 Target gift card. So that is sort of a sale. I don't know if I am going to see a better offer. My husband says "You have had pedometers before and they haven't worked well for you."

So tell me about your Fitbit Zip. The good and the bad. I want to know.

PERHAPS you have already bought a pedometer already but your blog caught my eye so thought I would chime in on being an owner of the Fitbit Zip. I LOVE IT!!! Now true I have run into some issues but what in life have you not done that. My one issue was as stated above by ARCHIMEDESII I found mine on the ground a couple of times and panicked knowing that it could have easily been lost for good. What I did was to contact Fitbit as the Fitbit Community on SP suggested. I did and they sent me another clip. But in the meantime I had worn it inside my sock and I found it gave me accurate steps and no longer had to worry about losing the little varmint. Now this summer I will need to get out the new clip since socks and summer do not always go together. My next issue (and I am not even sure it is an issue with Fitbit) is that I always sync as I am going back the hallway to naturally I am sleepy......when I click onto the icon on my desktop I got a message there was a problem and Fitbit Connect was closed. I can always remedy the problem by restarting my pc but by that time I am wide awake. Contacted Fitbit with that issue and they gave me instructions of what to send to them and they are currently working on that....BTW.forgot to mention the clip that was sent to me was of no charge and others in the Fitbit community stated that Fitbit was very generous in thier help and often did not charge, for which I am grateful since I would not be able to replace the clip on my own. I bought my Zip at Staples when it was on sale for $49 and had a coupon for $10 so I was very lucky to do that. Hope this helps in your decision if in fact you have not bought yet I did have an Omron before the zip but it was not as accurate but pretty close

I have a fitbit but not the zip. I love it! It has really motivated me to be more active.
You can link to other fitbit users so you are challenged to keep up with them.

I've found the Fitbit to be very accurate with regards to counting steps. You could wear the fitbit all day and get a good estimate.

The problem with the old style pedometers is that they used a ball bearing that moved up and down to count the steps. No more ball bearing. The Fitbits use better technology that is not succeptible to being jostled around. I noticed that when wearing my fitbit.

It is perfect ? nope. but, all in all, it's pretty good.

If you just want a pedometer, OMRON makes a good one for around $20 on amazon or target.

How about the opinion of someone who has a Fitbit One ?

Here's something you should know about Fitbits, the clip isn't that secure. It seems secure, but it isn't. If you look through my blogs, you'll find one where I describe finding a Fitbit on the ground. I eventually found the owner ! well, I found that when I clipped the fitbit on to my shirt, it did slide around. I nearly lost my own Fitbit the same way. Losing your fitbit is a big problem because of its size.

Anyway, the Fitbit is a tool that you could use to help motivate you to be more activate. I don't sync any of my information. I've just used it as a pedometer. And I will say that the steps are pretty accurate. The distance I take with a grain of salt, ditto the calorie burn. Those numbers aren't written in stone. they are rough guidelines.

Amazon is selling the Fitbit Zip for $59.99. So, the extra $10 Target gift card would be a good deal.

Let me ask you this, if you were to buy the Fitbit Zip, would YOU use it on a regular basis ? What is your history with pedometers ? Do you use them for a while and then forget about them ? If you think you'll use this on a regular basis, then yes, it's a good deal. If you think you'll only use it for a few weeks, don't do it. then it would be a waste.

The Fitbit is fun. I like it, but would prefer a GPS. lol.
