Happy New Year!

The weather is the big news item locally. Our temperature this morning was -18 with a wind chill making it at -35 and lower. Every local school district in the bi-state region was closed today unless it was a teacher inservice day like it was in my district, Moline IL and Davenport IA. We learned just before noon that we would have a day off tomorrow--which is rare for us. My son teaches in Davenport and they found out the same around 1:30ish. They are more likely to take a bad weather day than we are, but it is the entire area and everything north for sure--all of the way to Chicago. They are predicting that the temperature will start picking up tomorrow night... It's my guess that -5 will seem like a warm front then!!

Our inservice day was excellent. I enjoyed the two sessions that I presented with partners--different partners. It was fun to do this and our sessions were all about books, my specialty. We had two sessions with our team--mine was with other Title 1 teachers which again, was wonderful. We shared thoughts and ideas; did some problem solving, and had a good "reunion" with the few others who share the same duties that we have.

I have some strange duties the day we return so it will be another day for me to rewrite my schedule for the coming semester. I sure hope I get it written in one day so that I can get things going before I spend next week in Rochester at Mayo Clinic again. I am hoping that this RF ablation works to deaden the nerves around my SI joint, so I can have at least some short term peace while I figure out what to do next with my back. I have a lot of sick days happening in the near future which won't make me terribly popular in my school. However, I deserve this time to figure out what is best for me and what I need to feel my best. This is the rest of my life we are talking about, so I want to do it correctly.

That's a bout it for now--the weather is the big thing around here, but we will survive this deep freeze too. I hope you are all warm and safe.

Gentle hugs,
Sylvia

Everything is closed down here too due to the ice/snow/temps. Terrible.

I hope the next Mayo visit goes well. Ablations are very effective tools and I hope yours works well.

Yes, you have to find a way to make your life more tolerable with less pain. Making it a priority is a must.
Our weather has been beyond horrible and suffering this compound arm fracture just before Christmas has made life especially difficult for my Mom to look after me and still run me around to keep up my bridge club responsibilities -they are eagerly awaiting my return, but complications with my elbow replacement mean a long wait. We had -50 windchills a day ago and are stuck at -30 today with no warming up in sight at all.
    Stay warm!
    Gentle Hugs,
    Linda
