It is Soooo Good to be Back!

Monday, January 06, 2014

It's been a very long time since I've even visited and I can honestly say, I've missed you all!

I have been recovering from rotator cuff surgery on November 18 and am finally getting to the point where I am able to be on the computer for a while and be comfortable. I am exercising in ways that are totally different than what I was accustomed to prior to my surgery. My arm didn't even look like it was ever going to be the same again, shortly after the surgery. My bicep muscle looked as though it had dropped off a cliff. I likened myself to Olive Oyl, when she and Popeye would "flex" their biceps and Popeye's would head skyward, while Olive Oyl's would simply drop toward the earth and look like little hard boiled eggs. Well, that's what my right arm looked like for about 4 weeks after surgery. It's now into week 7 and the bicep is coming back to the top of the arm again. YAY! My physical therapist is awesome and my surgeon is one of the top in the country (recently voted to that esteemed honor), so I am confident that eventually, I will have my arm back as before. Right now, I'm fighting gravity to even lift it over my head. I have to get to my ear first and I haven't made that goal yet. But with dedication and hard work, I will get there. My goal is to be back at yoga again by summer and able to do a plank by next Christmas that I can hold for more than 1 minute. So there it is, my excuse for not being here for a while.

I pray that you all had wonderful holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and New Year's and anything in between. God bless you all!
