This is going to be the year that I practise gratefulness. Should be easy right? Just regularly post something I'm grateful for instead of panicking and worrying about everything that has gone/can go wrong.
Today I'm grateful because I have new vinyl in my kitchen. And that just about finishes off redecorating the apartment. And Richard, who helped me prepare the kitchen, moved the appliances, and then moved them all back again, was great. Nothing broke (my big fear), just a tiny scratch on the vinyl where the washing machine was moved in - nothing to worry about, it's just the first of many I suspect!
I wasn't very well over the holidays. My knee gave way and it was very painful to stand, never mind walking. But rest seems to have solved the problem, so that's something else I'm grateful for.
I've also been in a UC flare - probably brought on by the stress of the last month at work. But today I feel definitely better and I gathered the courage to contact the IBD nurse. She still has to get back to me, but it's a start.
And even though I haven't been able to exercise, I've maintained over the holidays, which is a great relief.
Oh, and I've been doing 5 pages of my Sorani Kurdish grammar book a day, wow, never thought I'd have the concentration to do that.
And finally, with the help of a great friend, I've decided that even if I can't go to the Middle East because of my UC, that's only because God's got something better for me. Win/win situation, right?!
Thank God for good friends and sound advice (still would love to go to the Middle East though!
Hope your 2014 is full of gratefulness too - it definitely helps me to have a positive attitude.
