An unusual weekend...

Monday, January 06, 2014

We enjoyed having all three grandchildren here from Friday evening through Saturday evening (and Baby Benjamin is still here); however, it didn't turn out the usual way...

Friday evening, 5 yr old Andrew had a pretty heavy nosebleed. Then it stopped and his evening went as if nothing had happened... But in the middle of the night, he woke up and vomited... because he's old enough to make it to the toilet and flush, we didn't notice until the 4th time that he was vomiting blood. So, at 5 a.m., my hubby prepared to run him to the E.R. (45 min away) and I connected with his mom at work. After about 4 hours, we found that was probably due to the blood from the nose bleed irritating his stomach. Whew! He came home and was just fine!

Then last night, Baby Benjamin (who's still here), vomited twice last night. Not sure why... he's fine today...

It's COLD here... currently at 1 a.m., it's -13F (wind chill of -35F).. burr... the low tomorrow is supposed to be -28 at 8 a.m. Staying warm in our little nest. I'm so thankful for a sweet hubby who works hard at keeping the wood furnace fed and wood carried in to keep us warm!

So - a good point of the day is that I've started participating in the water challenge with the Chair Exercise Team... starting at 3 cups today (working toward all 8 by the end of 2 weeks).

Have a good week!

I'm glad there was nothing serious as the cause of the vomiting of blood by your grandchild.

Nosebleed probably from dry air in these cold temps. We don't have a humidifier, so we put a pot of water on to simmer, scented with orange peel or cinnamon or something. If we're making stock, THAT does the trick! emoticon

RGEETING, as a retired kindergarten teacher I have had my share of nose bleeds in the classroom. Remember a five year old is doing a lot of growing and if the inside of the nose is having a growth spurt the child may have several nose bleeds for a few days to several weeks.

Also, really cold weather can cause a spurt of nose bleeds when there has not been a problem before.

I am glad you got him to the doctor and all is well and I hope the information I have given you will alleviate your worries.
