New Year Mantra = " . . . I am single-minded: Forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead . . . " ~Phil 3:13 (New English Translation)

2013 was a strange and at times hard year for me, but I am SO LOOKING FORWARD TO 2014!!

I taught high school math during the 2012-2013 school year, but it was one of the worst employment situations that I have ever had in my life. Fifteen year olds fighting me for their phone chargers while informing me that they could charge their phone anytime they wanted to (even in the middle of my Geometry class); and the administrator's response as she shrugged her shoulders: "It goes on."

Anyhoo, I am now working for an engineering group that does retrofits for power plants to meet environmental compliance regulations to cut down on emissions. I am making a little less money, but receive far more respect, and I don't have to work overtime for free!

My teaching degree is still too generic for me to be a specialist, but over time I am going to work on that. I am tutoring students in both paid and volunteer capacities. I tutor math at my church for free twice a week.

As far as my weight goes - well it does reflect the stress that I have been under for the last year and a half, but that is okay.

I have to relose 15 pounds and continue on to my ultimate weight loss goals. The picture I just posted is from Christmas Day 2013.

I have had a hard time fighting my impulses to hibernate in the warmth of my bed instead of exercising lately. RESOURCEFUL I am if nothing else (some would even call it creative). I added "stretchy band arm exercises" to my official spreadsheet of exercises. The beauty is that I can do them from my warm cozy bed!!!

I have lost a lot of weight since 2009, so the 34 more pounds that I want to lose is a cinch, and I fully believe that it is going to happen this year!

Happy New Year to us all!
