The ongoing heat is what I am talking about. Seriously folks, I grind to a stand still in this terrible weather. Some of my friends are all frolicking on the beach and lying TANNING and I am hiding out waiting for the cooler weather. I definitely live in the wrong part of the world for my body thermostat. On top of that, I had to see a client yesterday at her home. She is an elderly woman who lives in a room attached to the main house. The people who own the house have bought a brand new teenage bull terrier. What a beautiful and sweet dog, however the old girl owns a cat and she is terrified the new dog will attack her cat and no amount of explanation is convincing her. So she has all her widows and doors shut AND there sits yours truly trying to explain a 1200 calorie diet plan along with its meal replacements in that sauna. Within minutes I could barely think straight. I had to finally beg off and said I would fetch her on Monday and go to an air-conditioned coffee shop and explain it to her there. So now it will cost me...oh well...its better than throwing up on her shoes from heat.

So...2013 is done. I took down my year planner, so full of all the goings on of last year. My highlights of my weight loss and various other victories.

Now starts a fresh 2014 planner, almost bare and yet to be filled.

Two years ago was the first time I remember experiencing this intense heat in our area. I came to George for the cold and wet. Since the earth is off its axis by 1.7 degrees...everyones weather is totally different now. We now get serious floods, serious heat...its crazy. Anyway, since the extreme heat, I remade my entire garden from a cultivated one, to a wilder one that could withstand droughts and floods. So mostly my garden is ok.

But there are still areas that are suffering, like this beautiful Acer tree that is wilting despite getting a large watering can of water twice a day.

Also the Eugenia trees, there flowers never flowered, just turned to powder and dropped off. Very messy business.

Even my dog has taken to lying on my garden table to keep in the shade. Crazy mutt!

I could so do with one of these....except I AM BEING GOOD so I wont.

Anyway, its the start of Jan...a brand new month of a brand new year and I am making really good plans to make this a good year, first spiritually and secondly health issues and weight.
Boot camp starts again on Monday and my knees are knocking together, because A..its HOT and B..Im no doubt unfit once again.

Good news (for me), both my sons are on a get fit and healthy and turned to me to help them because "YOU LOOK AMAZING MOM"...Im so thrilled at their excitement and my progress.

Hope everyone has a plan of action and working that plan.

No happy medium-- when will we all be happy.

Good luck to you on Monday

We have the opposite problem. Temps are cold with it getting colder tomorrow through Mon. We'll be between -45 and -60 wind chill on Monday. I'm not so sure we'll go back to school.

Holy cow that's quite a planner you have there! Neat to see everything at a glance. I hang a regular flip picture calendar in my walk-in closet to hot down workouts, and on the fridge side there's one with appointments and birthdays noted. I like your planner!

Celeste, You will get right back in to the swing of things on your boot camp. I ended up taking Thursday and Friday off and today I thought I was going to die just doing the warm-up, but I finished the entire workout with only a few breaks. I did better than I thought I would.

You can do it! You have already shown how awesome you are! Your sons are encouraged and asking for your help so you are doing everything right! Good for you!!!!

emoticon I wish I could really give this to you instead of a virtual rain shower!

    Hugs to you

Vasbyt- the rain is on its way! The north-easterly wind is blowing a lovely bank of clouds over Cape Town as I write and the temperature is dropping. So it will be with you soon....I also start boot camp again Monday- looking forward to not having to do it on my own as I have been the past 2 weeks.

As you say, the weather is changing everywhere. We are about to be hurtled into snow after a day of rain..with a sudden deep drop in temps that will but us at 1 or 0 degrees F. for the next few days. It is in the upper 40s today..sunny and breezy...and we are NOT looking forward to this cold blast that is coming. I am longing for our home in the islands...the trade winds kept it much more comfortable than summertime here. Glad the rains finally came for you...just hope it does make things more comfortable..instead of hot and sultry. emoticon

Truly I would also feel that way about the heat. But right now we are very cold. Despite the heat you seem to be coping well and staying on plan. Marvelous!
