A Look back and a plan for the future.

2013 was a successful year for me in terms of weight loss. I started the year at 260 and ended at 190. The Spark stats are a bit different because they go back to May instead of last January.
I've learned that exercise is a very important part of losing weight for me. If I don't exercise, I don't lose, or lose very, very slowly. So my goals for 2014 need to include exercise at least 6 days a week. I will continue to track my food every day. My appetite isn't a good gauge for me so until I'm at or near my weight loss goal I will track all I eat.

I've tried to overcome emotional eating but still struggle with it. When things are good I want to 'celebrate' when things aren't going as well I somehow feel 'deserve' a treat or a meal of comfort food. While one meal isn't going to change my weight loss that much, it is enough to get me 'off track' and then its way to easy to just continue nibbling away or eating old favorites. In 2014 I will work at ways to break this thought process. I will actively seek out Spark articles on emotional eating for help .

This morning I read that the biggest key to success in anything is gratitude. At the end of each day I will look for and write down the things that have gone well that day. It may be something as simple as giving someone else a hand with something, or receiving or giving a compliment....anything that accentuates the positive. Looking for the good in my day will help me to concentrate on the many wonderful things in my life rather than fretting about the annoying things that happen.
