2014 here we come!

Best wishes for a wonderful year in 2014. Don't wait for better to arrive... be better!
I joined the sparkteam 2014-2015 Challenge. My starting weight is 174 lbs, and I resolve two things: Not to step on a scale in 2014, and to run a marathon. The sparkteam challenge is to weigh in on January 1, 2014 and then again on December 31, 2014 and work toward making the 2nd number lower than the first. There's no fixed method, each team member will do whatever s/he is already doing. I'm excited about this because we all have pretty much the same goal: to get healthier. If it means also losing excess weight, then that's even better!
I entered the Running With the Bears marathon which is in August. I have 8 months to get ready.
At midnight I went for a New Year jog, to kickstart things right.
I also subscribed to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine site, which advocates a low-fat vegan way of life, and joined the Veg Run group. Veg Run is a training program for vegan runners, and offers a ton of recipes for every meal and snacks or desserts. There are a lot of vegan athletes who offer their own tips, diets, and recipes. Altogether a lot of support.
My main goal for this year, food-wise, is to stop relying on boca burgers and start relying on whole, fresh foods for my nutritional needs, and of course keep supplementing with calcium and such.
Get ready, 2014, cuz here I come!
