New Year's Day 2014

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

Like many people, I am using today to reflect on the past year and to set goals for the new year. This morning I went back to my weight records from the period August 2009 to April 2010. I lost 23 pounds during that time. I lost an average of almost 3 pounds a month and it didn't seem difficult because I was actively using many of the SparkPeople tools and I received fantastic support from so many SparkFriends.

Life has changed significantly for me since that time, but the choices remain the same. Am I going to eat what is healthy or what is convenient? Am I going to the gym or siton the couch? Am I going to wish I could wear that nice outfit or do what it takes to be able to? Am I going to be the person who makes life happen or the person who whines about what is happening in my life? Not making a decision IS making a decision that is called denial. Denying to face reality is not a healthy way to live.

This is still a moment by moment process and there will be times that my wheel gets stuck in the ditch on this journey, but I am on the road again to improving my health.
