Race for Life

Sunday, May 13, 2007

I took part in the Race for Life this morning. I had no idea that I would be effected the way that I was. It was my first time doing it and I thought that it would be great fun-a chance to get out and walk for a good cause. I was really surprised by how emotional I was during the event. We all wore badges on the backs of our shirts where we listed who we were walking for or why and I was really moved. I had not stopped to consider just how many people were effected by Cancer. I was especially saddened by those who has lost children to the disease. There was a point when one of the speakers said "I would just like you to look at the people standing to the right of you, and now the left. Because one in three of you will need the funds that we are raising here today." 1 in 3. I was stood beside two women who I really love deeply and the thought of any of us suffering-or possibly losing our lives- just made me feel terrible. All the more reason to continue to fight for my health. I feel incredibly thankful today for this site. It might just be saving lives.

The one day I do my make-up in ages and I had to read your blog. Good thing I don't wear mascara. Great thing that you did. Plus wonderful that you are making yourself healthier by doing it.

    Hello dear Andie,

Well done on your taking part in "Race for Life" ........ I am not surprised that it was an emotional event for you. Only this morning I was speaking with a dear friend who's husband Frank , is very unwell due to cancer.
My own dear mother Florence , and my dearest husband Oliver both suffered with cancer . My mother was only 62 ...... and Oliver, even younger at 54 years when they passed away.
My closest friend here is awaiting a biopsy ....... God willing , the test result will be okay .

Thank you Andie , for your active roll in helping with the funding and your concern for all affected by cancer.
Lots of love to you, Rosemary.
