Grey and Rainy Saturday.....

Saturday, December 28, 2013

Two things about Florida I really like: 1) It's green and pretty, even when it rains in the Winter, and 2) I never have to shovel "partly cloudy" out of my driveway!

Yes, the sky was grey and it rained on and off today, but my garden was green and I had much to keep me busy inside. I was up before sunrise - first, preparing the dough for pasta, and while it rested for an hour, I made my pie, finished my pasta sauce, and prepared the cheese filling for the lasagna. And went to the store for some other stuff.....and had a bath....Whew!

My mom and sister arrived around 2:30; my nephew had to work, so we ate when he arrived at 3:00. We then visited until they had to leave at 5:00. It was a very nice visit all in all, and while I did over eat a bit (200 calories), it could have been much worse. Taking the high-calorie menu into consideration, I think I did pretty well!

All that, and I got in a short walk in! Woohoo!

TTFN!

Good morning ... and a new short week begins .. Yes my dear if partly cloudy never required a shovel I would be in heaven .. the lack of sunlight and Vit D has a real bummer effect on me .. so I up my supplements and force a smile. We have a mini vacation planned ... to the Black Hills of South Dakota on New Years Day .. it is about 400 miles to Deadwood then we will tour from there .. it is our 15th anniversary New Years eve .. feels like 50!! So the couple that stood up with us will come along for the trip .. She is a hoot .. tells it like it is and loads of fun .. her hubby is like an old woman so a real test for mine but it's all good .. we will travel and tour .. see the sights of Rapid City and maybe take in a show or two. A few years ago we were in Deadwood for Chinese New Year that was tonnes of fun with a dragon parade and all the other festivities ... this area is home to a lot of Chinese who came to work on the railroad when it was chiseled through the hills .. a lot of them stayed and had restaurants , rooming houses ...house of all sorts if you know what I mean and the opium dens !! Lots to do and see ... and since my daughter is leaving for 20 days staring the 10th I will need a break in order to not lose my noodle completely.
Today is lower the boom day .... a year in advance warning NO MORE BONUS so plan your life accordingly!!
Have an amazing day in Sunny Fl .. its -30 again this morning but I'm going to have a wonderful day in spite of winter !!

Yummy yum YUM...I just know your lasagna is KILLER! You did really well staying in calorie count...but what the heck...if you imbibe a bit more than usual of such a delish~meal. I spent some time on my Pinterest...I DO love that site...so so many cool ideas abound there. Then I did some more crafty projects. I'm also repairing the dog chewed legs of some very expensive dining chairs...now there's a challenge for sure, for sure. Hope they turn out well enough to sell. It would be a shame to have to pitch the chairs when they are so gorgeous..these people must have totally been in la~la land to let so many of those legs get destroyed...that damage surely didn't happen over night. emoticon And the poor dog...splinters must have gotten in his throat...people are clueless...yep that's really all I can say. emoticon Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

You had a wonderful day--you are also allowed a treat once in a while! It certainly sounds like homemade pasta is a wonderful treat.

Keep on moving and you can make that little extra up!
