2013 in review

2013 was an ok year. I did some major slacking in the eating right and exercising areas, although, I did run my first 5K in June. June and July, I was doing well and managed to lose some weight. Then, on August 20th, my husband and I were in a motorcycle accident and I broke my leg. After a week in the hospital, a week in rehab, and two months on crutches, I had gained almost 20lbs. Since I wasn't walking around, my in-laws kept feeding us (husband had broken collar bone, so he couldn't do much either). All I did was eat junk. Months of boredom, with nothing to do but eat. Plus, I'm a smoker, and after the accident I had to quit to help the healing, so junk food was substituting cigarettes as well. I am up and walking around now, but I can't go for long walks anymore, because it still hurts.

So, I currently weigh more than I did in the beginning of the year, my depression has gotten worse, and I am still in the healing process, but, I know I can get back in track. Even though I can't workout or even really walk, I can still eat right. As long as I eat right, I will manage to lose weight. It won't be as quickly as I did when I was doing spin classes 5x a week, but as long as I take little steps in the right direction, I will be alright.
