Holy What!!!

Thursday, December 26, 2013

So I left last Thursday to spend a week in florida with my son who just graduated from the Navy A school. He will stay for another three months to continue training to be on a submarine to be stationed in Hawaii for the next three years. Now I knew this would be an usual trip as he was on hold, meaning between sessions on their break they still have to work everyday, cleaning the base and doing maintenance; and I was going alone. So I get the house cleaned, packed and ready to rock and roll for my week gone so J can just maintain the clean (fingers and toes crossed, who likes to come home to a dirty house). And off I go.
Now I knew on Friday he would work till 4 (which was actually 5) and then we decided to go to the movies and have some dinner. Saturday and Sunday were his free days and we drove down to New Orleans and Mobile to see some culture. But Monday he had to stay on base all day so I just took him and his mates some KFC and had dinner in the car. Tuesday he worked till 5 again and we were off to the movies again.
As there isn't too much to do in Pensacola for an 18 year old and his late days were kinda cold we don't mind hitting the theatre. and then Wednesday it was on a plane to fly home.
I enjoyed my time with him immensely (how little we did get together, but it was better than none).
But here is my source of WHAT WHAT!!!! Now we ate out one a day, and my hotel was an extended stay so it had a full fridge and kitchen, which I loaded up with fruits and good soups for breakfast and lunch. But I also knew when I wasn't with Skye I would just hang out in my room (I might have a tendency to shop, and with the move was trying to be money conscious). Which I totally did. I brought a few projects with me I hadn't had time to work with at home.
My ITunes had taken a left turn at Albuquerque and was affecting my Ipad and Ipod which I was hoping to fix this issue (and succeeded, with a lot of time and patience, something I could never had dedicated at home).
So today I login to my Sparkpeople, check on my Fitbit account.....16,591 steps....for a week. WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT!!!! Now the extended stay didn't have a gym, and the area around me was...well as my son said, you're know you're here when it looks Ghetto. Which isn't technically true it wasn't the hood, but it was a little ran down, so running outside made me uncomfortable, especially as it got dark at 4:30 and didn't get going till 8:30am. So I knew I hadn't met my 10,000 a day; but on Monday (the day I just got him KFC) I only walked 1,000 steps. How is that possible, I should meet that just doing bathroom runs and making lunch, well maybe not the room was small. I usually do 16,000 steps in a good day, but for a whole week. I'm baffeled and now realize that if we let ourselves, we can become so sedentary we don't move at all.
Trust me I'm gonna beat that by 1,000 a day for the next week. 16,000 steps for a week, WHAT WHAT. (I didn't gain, and lost a tiny amount on my waist so it didn't affect my size, but it totally did my ego).

Wow, that is kind of a sticker shock I wouldn't want.

Sounds like you had a nice trip and visit even if you didn't walk as much as normal. It also sounds like you are ready to get back on track. emoticon
