"I have a husband, I can be fat now."

Friday, December 20, 2013

Oh the things you hear in the checkout lines. Two cashiers yakking it up as I approached the register talking about their fatness and how they don't know how to lose weight.

Of course I am thinking "calories in vs. calories out" as I have heard so many times and come to learn is TRUE! It really is! But I'm not one to just go spouting off about "how you can do it". Most of the time these people have dozens of reasons why it won't work for them anyway.

But then one of the women says to the other "I have a husband, I can be fat now."

Seriously? I think that in itself is a damn good reason to lose the weight and take real good care of yourself. Healthy just might keep you around longer to enjoy your loved ones and have many happy days ahead.

Besides that, I say "what's a husband got to do with it?". Yes, I am in a relationship. But, I am a good enough reason with or without a man to be happy healthy and live my life to the fullest extent possible. Since losing weight and sticking to a regular exercise program, I have gained so much self-confidence. I actually believe in myself today. I have lived the highs of accomplishing some goals that I never thought possible. I ride the wave of determination and success that keeps me feeling that what I am doing for myself is the absolute biggest achievement of my life. I feel like I have found my true self.

Love yourself first. Changing the words around to suit my needs, "I have ME, I can be fit now!"

Wow I have never heard anyone that sentiment! I have husband and we both like being in shape.

To lose weight you must have the will to reduce your calorie intake and increase your exercise. Nothing else is required. It is much easier to come up with excuses than do what you know is right.

Loved the blog. Perhaps my DW and I were vain, but when we decided to marry we made a pact to stay slim. It wasn't about health way back then, but became so as the years have passed. So far, we've done pretty well keeping to it, and we still joke about our secret pact.

Eek. You know I just cringe when I hear those words. Those ladies must not have very high self-esteem. You, on the other hand, have done fantastic! I think that deserves a emoticon

Sadly, that happens to a lot of people. They might not think about it that directly, but suddenly there's more eating and cooking at home, and often a sense that the wife should put dinner on the table instead of hitting the gym after work. I fell into that trap, though I gained weight during the dating phase, and just added to it the first few years of marriage. Now I cook healthier, and my husband just augments his diet with junk, but stays at a healthy weight, and sometimes we have leftovers or eat late because I'm working out.

    emoticon excellent blog

I am not in a relationship of any romantic type and plan to stay that way for a while longer. Whether one is in a relationship or not should not be justification for losing or gaining weight. It is a matter of improved self respect.

    Thanks for posting this.
