Seems like a lot of bad news lately.

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

I know this isn’t exactly true, but it seems like all I hear about lately is bad news. And I don’t mean in the news. I mean friends going through bad things.

I have worked at the same place for 26 years. The first tenish was spent outside while I pursued my degree then the last 16 in the same office. I recently found out that one of my biggest supporters and while not officially a mentor, she was is being given only 6-8 months to live. Once she left the office for a promotion I am not exactly sure what happened except her and my old boss did not see eye to eye on stuff and since I was still working under my boss, I got lumped in as being the bad guy too. That said, I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. She has some form of a brain tumor. It is not cancerous but it is growing and they can’t operate. It has greatly reduced her mobility and now is hitting her vision. She is going on what is likely to be a very short disability retirement.

Now, another person I recently met, who I know had cancer that had gone into remission fell down some steps last week. She hit her head and spent time in the ICU and while there they did an MRI on her head because of the fall, and found a small tumor in her brain. So now she has to undergo more tests due to her cancer history.

Then the guy from high school that died recently. I am not even all that old that there should be much of this stuff going on. Guess this means even more too just enjoy the time we have. You never know what is around the corner in life.

Ugh. I know some of this will pass, but it is not a good time of year to be hearing this kind of stuff.
