Busy with the what? Need to get out and walk.

Yesterday I drove over to Lake Elsinor to meet up with my sister & her husband to exchange Xmas gifts and have a late breakfast. The late breakfast turned into a mid day lunch thanks to some traffic. Over in the city of Perris which is a cut through from Hemet to Lake E, my sister got caught up in a traffic jam because of a parade. She finally ended up getting back on the freeway and taking the long way around through Temecula. I ended up waiting for over an hour in my car in front of the local Lowes store. I did get up an walk around a bit but it was very windy, but not overly cold.
I was suppose to go to my friends Sandy's house, which I did but no one was there. Sandy and her husband were to go to breakfast with us. Somehow she got the times all mixed up, so they were already having a late breakfast at 11 am. My sister and her hubby showed up after noon and we ended up eating lunch at Chilli's. I had only a banana for breakfast at 8 am, so I was a bit hungry by then. Ate half my sandwich (took the other half home) and had a side salad that was hugh (only ate about 1/2 of that). After the late lunch, I went by Sandy's for a visit and to exchange gifts. I left and got home around 4 pm. and was just beat (from what I don't know) didn't get much exercise.

Today was cookie baking day with my neighbor Rosa and her daughters Cristy (22) and Frida (13). We made cookies using cake mix with different recipes. Yellow cake mix with caramel brittle pieces and pecans, Devil's food fudge cookies with walnuts and chocolate chips, Red Velvet cake mix with powdered sugar and also one batch of sugar cut out cookies. We burned one batch of the Red Velvet because we didn't hear the timer. My husband had come home and put on some music and we just spaced out dancing around and missed the buzzer. lol What a mess it was after all day, but we had a great day. Once again it got dark b/4 I could get out of the house.

Slo I haven't really gotten much exercise the last two days. My steps & miles are down. I plan to get up tomorrow and do an early walk. The weather warmed up a lot today, we had all the windows opened and the stove on most of the day. Would have been better planned if we had done this on one of the colder days to help heat the house, but oh well that CA weather for you. It is currently 7 pm and all the windows are still open and it is only 68 degrees outside. Everyday for the last couple of weeks, once the sun went down the temps have drop so fast that all the windows were closed up by 5 pm and temps were hitting the 30 degree mark at night. May not get that cold tonight, I am thinking somewhere in the 50's.

Jeff has jury duty tomorrow. This is the first time he has not gotten out of it due to hardship case, at least we didn't get the paperwork back telling him he was excused. Since he is the only one working and I am on disability, they normally let him off. Our insurance is based on his working hours through the union. If he is short hours, we have to pay the difference, sometime the whole payment which is over $900. For him not to be available for work can really hurt us since jury duty only pays $15 a day and 34 cents a mile.

No wonder no one wants to do it. If you got on a long trial and are living paycheck to paycheck you could lose everything. Ok enough bitching, should not be doing that on such a beautiful day!

Sounds like nobody got the plans straight for the planned get together! Glad you finally met up with some of the group. Hopefully, Jeff won't get chosen for the jury duty, and will be able to go right back to work.
Good for you on getting some baking done! I still have all of mine to do for Christmas, haven't started on any of it......I will try not to burn any of them, LOL! emoticon emoticon

Sorry your hubby got stuck with jury duty :(( Hope its a fast one!!
I did nothing much but lay around watching all the movies my sister downloaded from the internet and also spent a day shopping, so I have to get back on the exercise after all that snacking!
That sure is a lot of cookies! We could open our windows today -finally got just above freezing. bad for the roads though -all that fresh snow is melting, but will quickly freeze up again as the temperatures are supposed to plummet again :(
Hope you have a good day tomorrow and can get some exercise in!

Teri, we are going into the 30's t night as well. Have 2 windows in the dining I have kept open. The upper area is cool and great for sleeping while the Texas room stays warmer as it gets the afternoon sun. We will be going down for part of the week and then mid week up to around 80.
Sounds like you got plenty of baking done. Haven't started mine and I still need to get gifts out to kids and all my cards! Think I need the week we are missing this yr.!!
