Just Thinking

Sunday, December 15, 2013

Now to figure out what next. Time to set more goals.

Well, I do have a half marathon on Feb 23rd, the Disney Princess HM. I just bought a beautiful Sparkle skirt to wear. I'm going to be Cinderella's Fairy Godmother who got fit!! I have a little wand and I'll play Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo on my MP3 player with speakers. It's going to be fun! So I do need to keep trained for the 13.1 mile distance. I've been told the race is very crowded and it is not a good one to go for a PR, so training for time is not a high priority. I just want to enjoy it and finish.

Then, March 8th is the Senior Games 5K. I want to qualify for the National Senior Games. I'm not totally certain whether the local race will qualify or if I have to qualify in the state games. No one is in the office to ask until January. A time of 28:09 has made it the last years, so I need to find out if that is the time again in 2014. The state games are not until December of 2014, probably the first week. If I stay healthy and avoid injury I think I can qualify. It will take work -- speed work. I'm planning to work with a coach for about 2 months prior to the qualifying race to give me the best shot.

I'm planning to join Lakeland Runner's Club again in 2014. I only did one of their training runs a couple years ago and it was too fast for me. This year I'm going to check out their other options and see if they offer something I would benefit from. It is a less expensive option than the Galloway group and far less expensive than a coach. A lot of people in our Galloway group do not do any local races, but I'm thinking that is mostly what I want to do in 2014. I'm debating whether to join Galloway again in June 2014. I love the social aspect of the long runs, but know that I am disciplined enough to get my runs in whether I join or not. I'm thinking. I'm thinking.

As far as food and weight goals, I am planning to check out the new part of Weight Watchers. I understand that overall the program is not changing for 2014, but they are adding a Simple Start (or something like that) aimed at helping new people or people wanting to take their program up a notch. I won't know if I want to work the program until I see it. Maybe. Probably 3 months of tracking on Weight Watchers would be good for me. I find when I switch between SP and WW it keeps me on my toes and I don't get complacent. I've kind of found that 4-6 pounds I lost this year. I'm happy that maintaining around 129-133 is very doable for me, but I'd rather be maintaining 124-129. So after I see the new materials, I'll set some goals.

Excellent plan - I've been thinking about WW again - I think I am ready for the final push and weighing in front of someone always helps me to do my best.

I love reading your blogs and live vicariously though you with your running and the races you get in. You are amazing. I love to hear about the races where you dress up or do something different.
    So fun!
Have a great evening and for sure don't worry too much about the 4 extras you are carrying around...I know you will figure out how to say good bye to them.
    Have a nice evening.

Good goals and lots of planning now and in the future-all great ways to get where you want to go or maintain. emoticon

Wow, you have a lot planned already and it all sounds fun to me! I'm looking into what runs I can do this year, as well. The Disney one you are doing sounds like a hoot! I wish I lived closer and I'd have a sparkle skirt, too. I may be a better Tigger, though...bounce, bounce, bounce! emoticon

You always give me things to think about. You are persistent, positive, pondering the possibilities.... What a great example in maintenance!

May you decide what is best for you! I know you know muscle weighs quite a bit more than fat and I am sure you have gained at least 4 or 5 pounds of muscle.
You can never be accused of not planning. Enjoy your time making the decision.

I know that changing things up for me is a good thing and always works...but I also know that whatever it is that you decide to do after "thinking" will be the RIGHT thing. That's why you are a big inspiration to so many of us!

I love the sound of your costume...I always loved the "bibbity-bobbity-boo" song!

Have a emoticon Sunday, weekend 2013 is almost over...but for you, and me 2014 will be wonderful too! emoticon

Speed work / hard training for peak performance and calorie restriction really don't go together very well. What are the priority of your goals? If qualifying for the Senior Games is number one, then I suggest you design a nutrition plan that supports that goal.

Start really thinking of yourself as an athlete because you are just that. Trust your body.
