Work Christmas Party Aftermath

Saturday, December 14, 2013

Weigh-In today was not a bad as I thought it'd be. I gained just under 1lb. And I know exactly where it came from too...

Yesterday's Christmas party was pretty fun. There were a few hiccups at the end of the night, but all my responsibilities went smoothly, so I'm happy about that. I'm pretty sure next year we won't be at the same venue (thank gawd! It was nice and all, but in the middle of nowhere!).
I did pretty well with the meal, but drank a little too much! Not like passed out on the floor wasted, but I was definitely feeling it! I did try to get some water in between drinks, but when the President of the company is giving you shots to drink, its really hard to say no! And I also danced for probably a good 2 hours, so theres some exercise....not to mention wearing / dancing in heels all day (something I rarely do anymore since my office started allowing us to wear jeans!).

Another downfall from yesterday was coming home drunk and deciding to order pizza. Oh well. At least it was veggie...after that I tried to watch a movie, but ended up falling asleep on the couch. Grabbed some water and went to bed! At least I got a full nights sleep! Although I think I might be headed back there in a few moments.

I think I did pretty well considering where I came from. It was only about 3 or 4 years ago I was drinking and partying ALL the time. Like hardcore. And that was probably a good 10 years of my life of not caring, 6 or 7 of which I was partying like it was my job. I rarely ever drink anymore and when I do its like 1 drink. Sometimes I do miss my old life, but I really wasn't happy (which is prob why I was partying so hard).

So even though I may have drank a little too much, I still feel decent about the event. I do feel a little guilty about the pizza, but it was delicious at the time & I can't change things now. Happy I'm not hungover, just a little tired. Moving forward, I'm planning on working extra hard this week, the last week before Christmas! Its kind of funny, I don't think I will have as hard of a time at Christmas, as I did my work party. Most importantly, I still feel like I will still be able to meet my goal of 35lbs down for New Years.

Sometimes you just have to have some fun! Like you said you very rarely drink anymore and your weigh-in was pretty good considering the time of year. Sounds like you had fun, that's great!!!

Sounds like you had a fun night, and like Patty said, sometimes you need a fun night. Not even for the metabolism, but just to cut loose. I think that's why the cheat day principle is so popular. I'm glad you had a good time, and that you're not beating yourself up over any of it! Have a great day today!

I would say you were successful overall. One of my biggest learning points on my journey was that you need to live the process and you can't wait until you reach a certain goal to start living.
I too had a Christmas party last night. I had a great time, did not deprive myself and I have no regrets about my eating and drinking. A couple of years ago, I would not have said the same thing.
    Have a great weekend. emoticon

I really believe that every once in awhile, you need to have those days where you eat/drink a little more of what you want. I think that it wakes up the metabolism. I'm glad you had a great time at your work party. I can't remember the last time that I was at a party - I think I need to plan one.

Hm. My work's holiday event is a luncheon somewhere close by. Mine was also yesterday, and I had salmon with mashed potatoes. Because I can't eat gluten, they gave me a special dessert of strawberries with whipped cream. What a different experience than yours, LOL!
