Excuses or Motivators?

Saturday, December 07, 2013

My legs ache so badly, I could hardly sleep last night. From walking yesterday? Not likely, I tend to walk a lot, every day. From doing some lower body exercises? Perhaps. It's been a while. I've been more focused on upper body and core, somewhere between the need to build those strengths more for work and the fact that I was doing fairly well with lower body, just in my day to day routine. Or so I thought. Yes, it's been a while since I've been out on my bike. The time has come to double check to make sure I'm getting the complete strength training that I need! While I'm at it...

I'm also fighting bronchitis - again. Yes, the essentials in this fight include plenty of OJ, warmth and rest. Does that mean it's time to hang up the running shoes and crawl into bed? Yes and no. LOL It means that I go out for a shorter walk, well bundled, more often, and then pop back into bed for some rest. I want to take in some fresh air, clean out my lungs, build respiratory strength, without damaging my lungs, further! And if that's not all...

I rolled my ankle again. AGAIN?! :( OK, so yes, it's time to cut back on my walking to increase rest and recovery, but it's also time to double check to make sure I'm strengthening my ankles as much as possible. How do I forget these things? Any excuses that I had found in the past need to be realigned as motivators. It's not that I can't, but that I have to! :D No, I can't run a 5K, YET, but I need to keep building strength and endurance, without causing injury. I will run a 5 K when I'm ready and I'm going to keep moving forward - no more excuses. :)
