Saved by the Bell (1989–93)

In 1988, the Disney Channel debuted the sitcom Good Morning, Miss Bliss, which revolved around an Indiana middle school teacher (Hayley Mills). The breakout characters turned out to be scheming student Zack (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and a nerd nicknamed “Screech” (Dustin Diamond). NBC bought the rights to the show and aired it on Saturday mornings. It was completely revamped: The location switched to a high school in California; Zack, Screech, and a few others remained in the cast. Mills was out. The show, now focused entirely on the students, was retitled Saved by the Bell. It became a massive hit, running for four years (and endlessly in reruns ever since).
Before he was a producer, Aaron Spelling appeared as an extra on Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
