Counting my Thanksgiving blessings

Thursday, November 28, 2013

Another Thanksgiving holiday. Wow. I had a nice, easy, restful day, helped cook a delicious meal with my sweetie, avoiding the frenzy of shoppers at my local stores and just being prayerful for all those who are not able to be around the table. Yes I miss my Mom terribly, but I also know that she is whole, healthy and happy with Jesus and that thought alone makes me happy.

I did not run a Turkey Trot this year emoticon . I gave into the cold weather. I did not make turkey or dressing this year emoticon, that is something I can eat anytime and I didn't want to carb up too much. I had lots of veggies emoticon and some protein and as they taught us at Weight Watchers last week, I did not go for round 2, 3, 4... I am pretty please with myself and very conscious of the weight I want to lose, especially before the wedding. emoticon

I am very conscious of the fact that many folks do not get holiday pay and have a four day weekend like I do. I am very conscious of the fact of our military serving overseas away from family. My family is a few states away and I can jump on a plane and see them anytime. I am grateful for being a child of the King, who sent His son Jesus Christ to die for my sins because He loves me that much! emoticon Yes I am counting my Thanksgiving blessings!

If I started listing all my blessings I would be writing this for several days. In reality, that is a good idea.

I am 78, married to a wonderful woman, best friend and confidant for 57 years. 5 sons, 11 grandkids and more friends that a grown man deserves.

Now, even though I am facing a terminal cancer (I have posted some blogs about this journey), there is still solace in the love extended from my wife, my family and SP friends.
