I've Got My Feet Under Me Again - YAY!

Monday, November 25, 2013

I heard that line (paraphrased) in the movie 'BABE' (I think) where the daddy dog says to the mama dog that she can help the baby pig 'only until he gets his feet under him'. (Let me know if I've got the wrong movie emoticon )

Anyway, I've been off work last week and have vacation this week so that pressure is off. I've been allowing myself downtime when I'm tired (which is ALOT these days) and am scheduling the hard, but necessary tasks usually one per day. Then I do some 'fun' work painting the rental house (formerly dad's) or doing some ambitious home improvement tasks on our house.

I ripped out the outside window trim boards that had wood rot, replaced with new pre-primed wood, caulked and primed again. This involved me going up on the roof, measuring, buying and everything all by myself!!! My dh made the cuts (he won't let me near his power tools emoticon All is ready for the painter to finish. DH was impressed. I cant wait to say to the painter 'I did this' when he asks who I got to do the work. (Painter arguement drama was in another blog)

Very satisfying, grief busting, mentally and physically challenging work!

(side note: I hung out with an uncle whose garage was a wood working wonderland. He made AWESOME furniture and I ALWAYS wanted to do that, but in those times, schools didn't 'allow' girls to take wood shop. So I'm in Hog Heaven doing these projects! emoticon )

Foodwise: I'm being conscientious about sticking with my eating/vitamin/protein 'routines'. I'm still drinking ALOT of HOT decaf coffee drinks, but have switched to using Torani sf syrups to flavor rather than my beloved Hills Bros Mocha powder. Torani = 0 calories; Hills Bros = 50 cal per serving. I ran out and the local stores also were out, so tried syrups. Very Good and satisfying, but not as GREAT as my original HOT skinny mochas emoticon

PS: Kitty is WAY better!!! Well on his way to getting back to 'normal' emoticon

emoticon My mother who is 85 always wanted to take wood working in school to. But would do projects on her own when my father was at work. I told her the senior center has instruction in there open lab for any one but I have yet to get her to go. If you enjoy it go for it.
