I read a good article the other day on a girl in college who had lost 97# and she said "I didn't lose weight from going on a diet" but I lost weight because I GOT HEALTHY. She went on to say she had stopped eating ALL sugar/starches and went to having low carb with just vegetables (mostly raw) and lots of lean meat and avocados and using coconut oil and vinegar for dressing, etc. She said she stopped All the junk food.
I loved how she said she GOT HEALTHY and then the weight came off. I think that is the key.
In Richard Bernstein M.D.'s lectures on YouTube he talks about how ALL obese people are going to get Type 2 diabetes unless they change. He says they are ALL Insulin Resistant and need Metformin to help with weight loss. Do listen to his lectures. I loved reading his book "The DIabetes Solution" as he had a full chapter on PCOS which he says most all obese young women have. I got the book at the library.
