Still a K Cup Workaround Beginner- So I Quit Playing with the Big Boys

Sunday, November 24, 2013

As your trusty nutrition blogger, I, TINIERTINA owe you guys a sequel.

I was playing around, skirting on my beginner's luck with the cost-effective, space-effective and tiny, technologically-challenged office-effective(most importantly, microwave oven-FREE) workaround for savoring the taste of fresh brewed-coffee without using a K Cup machine or hitting a Starbucks (I'm boycotting them--and don't like the taste and the price) ...

So, then, I'd just gotten overconfident and cut right through the bottom of the K Cup (see my previous blog post and the "official" instructions for this--especially the 2-cup method); and for the first time (to my knowledge) visibly piercing the built-in drip coffee filter in the K Cup ...

In order to preserve this K Cup, I used one half of a Kleenex Hand Towel (from-the dispenser-kind of paper towel) and then, another half when the first had gotten very heavy with these wet ultra-fine coffee grounds (that do not work with old fashioned cup-at-a-time manual drip-o-lators, I must add) ...

I'm sucking it up and deciding to stick with Gevalia's K Cups (while K Cups are still being manufactured before getting totally replaced by "True Vue" or whatever they're called)...

They are ridged for easy handling amidst hot water pouring ... and scored at around the 3/16" mark towards the bottom ...

The Swedish are not all manufacturing IKEA ... sometimes they DO manage to invent something do-it-yourselfer friendly, like Gevalia ... emoticon

Though, more's the pity, I'd gotten that Eight O'Clock coffee on sale at Key Food ...

My husband has one of these coffee makers on his Christmas list. I looked up some of the reviews and several people said that it only last 1 year. They aren't cheap either and the accessories. That is an awful lot of extra expensive for a coffee maker. I'm not a coffee drinker if you couldn't tell. lol However, I going to purchase him one for Christmas.
