OMG Salt!

Since I've been tracking my food religiously these last few weeks I just noticed something..... I eat A LOT of salt. I knew I was pretty much a saltaholic before as I would add salt to everything. Since starting spark again I've been trying to refrain from the shaker. I never realized how much salt is in all the foods we eat. When I starting looking at each item on my tracker I was shocked. I've been averaging about 3,000-4,000mg a day. I don't have high blood pressure at all but I do retain a lot of water. You can see where my socks were when I take them off at night. I do drink a lot of water to help at least 6-8 glasses a day. Boy what an eye opener emoticon

    If the food is in a can or box, they add a lot of sodium. It isn't fair.

    I've heard that is a pretty typical amount of salt for people. I've also heard that our bodies need a little of the iodine in table salt. The amount of salt I eat is always reflected back to me in the numbers on the scale. And I love ham and bacon! High salt there for sure. Blah. Try buying low sodium canned tomatoes, beans, broths, etc (if you are into buying and using those things).
