Day 17: Stop Wasting Food

Well, after reading today's lesson, I learned something. Would I continue to put gas in my car's gas tank after it was full? Of course not! What happens to the excess gas? It is wasted! It spills out on the ground and creates a mess. So, Linda Spangle suggests that continuing to eat after we are full is the same thing. It is wasting the food. Spilling out of us as "fat" and creating a big mess! A big mess of me!

I must say, I used to be a proud, card carrying member of the "clean plate club". Well, no more! I do not need to add more fuel to my body once it is full! What I need to do is learn to recognize the fact that I am full! Many of us were raised to believe the starving children in Ethiopia would die because I didn't eat my fish sticks! Ha! Guess what? My fish sticks have absolutely no bearing on what happens to the poor starving children of the world. In the real world, if I don't want to waste food, I need to not serve myself so much, or better yet, cook less. If I'm eating out, only eat half of the portion, and take the rest home. But, if I happen to serve myself too much food, it is ok to not eat it all. I can save it for another meal, or just get rid of it.

Linda Spangle says, "Every time you eat food your body doesn't nee, you are wasting it!" So, if my choices are to either throw it away or eat it, either choice is a waste of food. Of course the better choice needs to be to throw it away. First, though, I will practice serving myself smaller portions. I CAN DO THIS!!

    I'm guilty of over-filling my tank too. When food tastes good, I want more. One of the more difficult habits for me to break. But I CAN!

    Ok this is good advice. For people who eat what is deemed normal standard food. I agree.

    And, yes you can do it and yes you should do it. No one needs to stuff themselves of what is stored in fat cells when unused.

    And for me, a raw foodist, it is a whole lot different. Because of my muscle issues I must eat quite a bit more than many Sparkers would. What my body does not need gets eliminated and not stored in fat.

    I just wanted you to view my world a bit.
