Out of the woods? Days #5-#10

Thursday, November 14, 2013

This has been a bruiser, folks....days 5 through 10 of my efforts to bite, scratch and fight my way out of what I believe has been an exhaustion-induced depression have been a real battle...hence my failure to blog during that time...

(Shout out of THANKS to my SP friend SEPTEMBERSPIRIT for the nudge to blog about progress....I needed it!)

I've stayed mostly on plan, with the exception of having alcohol a few times socially with planned dinners out. In short, BAD IDEA. It did give me a very temporary lift, but the low that followed in the days after were epic. And this from simple, moderate wine consumption - nothing major. Even DH, who was skeptical that it had an impact on my mood, noticed the correlation. So, for the next little bit (or maybe even a long bit - the lows have been so bad), I'll be tea-totalling. Doesn't bug me much and I'm so happy to be feeling good again.

Today marks 2 days in a row that I'm feeling 'normal'. Will continue to go at it pretty gently and am making time to do things that support and nurture....

The only item left on my plan will get addressed in a few days - SIGN UP FOR 30 DAY YOGA PASS. I've recently learned by exploring our new neighborhood on foot, that a yoga studio that I have wanted to try for a long time is less than a 15 minute walk from my front door....a pleasant, tree-lined 15 minutes in the nearly-perpetual sun and good weather that Southern California provides...

Can you tell I'm on the mend? emoticon

Many many thanks to my SP friends for the words of encouragement and support these past few weeks!

I wil join you in your tea-totaling. I have been cutting way back this fall and feel so much better. I am like you now in that when I have some I notice the day after SO much more. Why do we keep going back to this stuff?

Go for that yoga pass. It would be the best thing for you. Mark it in your schedule and dont let anything get in the way or YOUR time emoticon

You are sounding better and I am delighted.
Having that yoga studio within walking distance sounds like the universe is smiling at you.

I'm happy to hear you are on the mend and that you are back to what feels good for you... being AF and that walk to the yoga studio sounds heavenly. What a way to start yet another great thing - yoga!

It's amazing to see how just the little moderate drinking affected your spirit. it's also great that you recognize it and are able to correct it so easily. I have such admiration for you!

I'm on day 17 AF today... I still think about it and crave it and with the weekend ahead I'm sure I'll be working through some feelings again but I know that it will be worth it to come on the other side successful in tea-totalling. emoticon

PS - thanks for the shout out... I'm happy it helped give you that nudge emoticon

That all sounds very positive, Mimi, and very nice to hear. Great that you've found a yoga studio close by. How lovely to be in that gorgeous weather - it's got to be uplifting, for sure!
