As always, you make me laugh with your take on the simplest life experiences. emoticon

It makes me sad to read that you are hating your job. You used to have such a good relation shop with your boss, and you worked so hard to get that Master's degree. I hope things will improve for you to get you back to a feeling of satisfaction.

I am soooo gullible, and have fallen prey to these kinds of things too many times. Not to say that I don't care and want to donate to charity, but I feel violated by all of the times I am accosted in a day be total strangers asking me if I want to donate to this charity or that - in and out of the supermarket, on the telephone, in my email . . . you get my drift. I've been burned enough that I go out of my way to avoid these types of encounters.

I do believe that everyone should have a chance at a good life in this world, and I'm so sorry you had to experience hunger and neglect in your childhood.

I do put items in that collective shopping cart almost every trip, I donated an entire household of furniture and items to charity, and do my best to "pay it forward", and my conscious feels better for it. We're all softies at heart . . .

Scotta happens! Just hope there is no loose live wires around when your probing or jabbing around with a fork, its metal, and you can get a very snappy electrcal shock if your not careful. Make sure you don't confuse with a vibtator. Lol Susana

    Great blog as usual.

So sorry your job is sucking the joy out of you. I laughed, cried, shook my head in agreement and sucked my teeth. Wow. Thank goodness for the internet so you could google the cult before being sucked in. emoticon

Disclaimer: I used to be one of those stroller pushers. emoticon emoticon

How did I miss this? Funny/sad/moving . . . all of that. And: somehow I hadn't realized that you've really been feeling unhappy about your job. After all that work to get the grad degree. Yuck.

Happiness? Even the contentment thing is pretty elusive.

Thanks for the candy cane . . . small pleasures. Yeah.

    1. I hate stroller people, too. Very much. Especially 3 wheelers. They all should be banned from buses and don't ask me to help carry them up a deck of stairs. 6 people shouldn't have to give up their seat for 1 stroller. emoticon emoticon

    2. Lay off the skorts! They're an ingenious invention! No one can see up my skorts when I'm helping a 3 wheeled stroller person up 3 flights of stairs from centre earth in the metro.

    3. Ya, eventually the puke will get eaten. (Stroller people watch your tow!) emoticon

As always, a great blog. I love the way you write. I can relate to much of what you said about the crappy organization. I have fallen prey to many because I also smile, say "hi" and probably look like a total chump. But when I started getting around weirdo religious cults (remember the Moonies) I decided maybe I should stop being nice and walking on.

Thanks for such a great read.

"I hauled ass back into the supermarket, filled up a cart with non-perishable food and wheeled it out to her."

See? I guessed that about you. Good for you. Just remember it is solidarity, not charity.

Have a nice weekend, empathetic squirrel.

Ugh! I hate that I was too busy at work to read this (felt like 18 hours!).
Too busy to even eat lunch properly!
I thank my mind for not letting me remember my hungry days. Feeding a kid with a gallon of milk a week, no wonder I'm lactose intolerant!

Miss my cats (Seti & Billy Bob - now in the big cat house in the ?sky?)
Guess I'm a hard xxx sell. I have my ways of feeding the hungry and none of it's accomplished through unwanted solicitation. Grow an extra row of veggies, local soup/food - well, you know.
Much too serious tonight, even after your always looked for blog. Sorry love, sense of humour just stepped out for a minute or so.

Love you as always dear one.

I could tell you about the time I was so hungry, I ate an abandoned Cheese Doodle out of a sandbox. If we wanted lunch in the summer, we had to pick dandelion leave for a salad.

I'm glad you made it out and to the other side. I work with kids with special needs and all of them are in similar situations. I want so much for them to realize where they can go with an education. With the parents they have I wonder how many have a chance.

One of the reasons I have food issues at this age of my life is because Mother used food (withheld) as a punishment. I was a very bad girl, apparently, because I seldom had 2 meals a day let alone three.

Speaking of forks, my dad had to teach me how to use one when I went to live with him at age 13!

Oh, the stories we could tell if/when we ever meet (after the heartfelt hug, of course!)

OMG . . . I've been prey to such things too. I find it hard to turn my back on hunger, too. But our supermarket has a cart for you to buy and donate non-perishables. So . . . no Grocery Store Lady, but the idea is the same . . . feeding the hungry.

As always your descriptives of your lil cat cracks me up! Too funny.

HUGS and thanks for giving me a huge smile.

I just do want to say, though, I wish for you much happiness after al you went through as a child. NO child should have to go thru that, but then I'm preaching to the choir on that one for sure!

Fun to have you back! Love your perspective as always. Smiling because I jury rig things around here and keep using them until there's absolutely no life left in them! Xena is busy hunting leaves, and delivers them to my chair with a roar now that flying, crawling bug hunting is past. Have to praise her efforts, as I'm picking up oak leaves, I know they are "gifts". The trick is to pick them up before I step on them and need the vacuum. Have to love them! emoticon

This blog is awesome! You crack me up. It is SO funny and yet so true. I do exit out of a different door to escape the money grubbers. I often give to charity, but I hate going to a store, fast food restaurant etc. where I feel that I HAVE to donate. I love that you gave her a basket of non perishables. That was really sweet. I also have been buying lottery tickets lately,it seems like the ONLY way we can stop going to work. Have a great day!
