Silly Mistake....

Monday, November 11, 2013

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day for me. It sets up the rest of the day. If I have a good start, I am more likely to have a strong finish of the day.

I noticed that on the days that I am in a rush I would have a protein shake with spinach, banana, 1 tbsp. of peanut butter, and almond milk. It would keep me full, but would kill my calories. 396 calories all in one drink!

On days that I would have more time, I would make an egg-white omelette with peppers, onions, spinach, 2 tbsp of shredded cheese, 1 cup of strawberries, and a cup of coffee with 2 tbsp of creamer. This whole meal is only 242 calories and it kept me fuller longer.

What a silly mistake! emoticon

Why didn't I see this before? Why didn't I make this discovery earlier?

DUH! emoticon No wonder why my weight isn't moving....

It's not about just staying in your range, it's about balancing every meal to sustain me all day. It's all about getting more "calorie bang for your buck".

I'm just glad that my light bulb in my head goes off once in a while. emoticon
So, with my new found discovery, I hope I can start moving in the right direction.

I am excited and nervous. I am going to do a 5k here in the valley on Thanksgiving morning (Race Against Rolls) with some SP members. I know I am not able to run the whole thing, but I am going to jog as much as I can and walk the rest. But I will finish it...even if I am the last one. I just want to finish what I start.

Weather is perfect here now. Love being outdoors.

Have a great day everyone!

Great blog! Yeah I've had a similar moment, for me more food on less calories does not always sustain me as much as less quantity but more higher carb foods on more calories. It is such a learning journey. When I try and eat 'smart' I'm always snacking, when I just eat what my body wants to eat, it works even better when I'm not trying. Oh the lessons learned of this journey! emoticon

    Hi! I love your attitude.
What works best for me is to eat what makes me happy, fills me up, and fits in the daily nutrition counter, too.

Some people enjoy the 'drink' in place of a meal.
I have found I prefer food.

You will find what keeps you content and gives you energy as well.

    You are doing GREAT! emoticon
