Saturday Surprise!

Saturday, November 09, 2013

My niece called to see if I was home this am, and gave me the heads up that my mother was in town... and coming to visit. So, luckily I had a little over an hour to do up dishes, clean off kitchen table (official garbage gatherer in my house), mop floors and clean bathrooms before she got here... I also made a nice big pot of homemade soup. Then they pulled into the yard and I was still in my pj's with greasy hair. I quickly went and jumped in the tub and cleaned up and got dressed. When I came back downstairs, dh had shut off the soup. I turned it back on and went in front room to visit... next thing I smelled the soup burning... what a disappointment! Anyway, had a nice quick visit and they were on their way again... Don't know if I will see them again before they leave on Tues or not... didin't even know she was coming over from PEI...

At least I got my house cleaned, and dh and I shopped for groceries this afternoon, didn't seem like we bought a lot, got some good deals, but spent a lot. I really do have to start tracking what we spend. I have to repkg some chicken and ground beef tomorrow... I would like to make some cabbage rolls, but gotta get a big cabbage...

Another crazy job of exercise either.... gotta get back into my routine....

You really made me chuckle...had a really similar "encouragement" to quickly clean up earlier this week, and know how it feels! Sorry about your soup - you must make some awesome soups, Lila. And the cabbage rolls sound wonderful!

Here's to the new start of a better routine...and not just for you! emoticon

Having people come over (especially moms) is such a motivating way to clean house. Sorry about your soup, though. I bought one of those tiny notebooks that look like composition books and I keep it in my purse. I write what I spend in the book. I used to put it on the computer, then my computer died and I lost it all. I need to start an Excel sheet to get a better look at what I spend my money on but I just haven't had the time.
