Daylight savings time....Bah!!! It's dark when I get up, and almost dark when I come home now! No woman in her right mind would walk for an hour in my neighborhood after dark, and by the time it's light enough in the morning, I have to go to work!!!!!
And I'm not going to get started on work......Let's just say it's truly a 4-letter word!
I made it home about 25 after 5:00 tonight, and had about 30 minutes of daylight....dry daylight. So I race in, changed clothes, and got my tiller started up in the garden. I also emptied my compost bin while the tiller warmed up and got a large lawn and leaf bag full of fresh, fragrant, dark, fluffy compost! That got spread over an area that I tilled Sunday, and I got the large area that I couldn't do Sunday done tonight. Now, I'll be slowly working at the St. Augustine patches, getting those areas ready for planting.
It's so nice having a tiller with a little more power. I never could have done this much in so short a time with the old one. Now, all I need is a way to get that compost from Zellwood, and I'm working on that....
Another thing I'm working on - nipping the rat population that the renters next door have attracted in the bud! I received my"Raticator" today and I'm putting it outside with some bait tonight. If the neighbor's cat hasn't got the offending rodent by now, I'm sure this will!
What an ingenious little device! It's about the size of a loaf of bread and uses 4 AA lithium batteries and humanely electrocutes them! No mess, no "partial kills," no maimed rat biting at me! I don't have to worry about poison bait, or worse, my dogs getting hold of a dying poisoned rat. And to empty this trap, I don't have to get gloves on and I never have to touch the nasty vermin! Just empty it into the trash! Yeah! Problem solved! I only wish they made these a whole lot bigger - Could have used it when my rat of an ex-BF lived here!
Now, I think I'm going to go get a nice cup of tea and a warm bath. Time to relax and wind down for a good night's sleep.
