Despite an unplanned trek to Urgent Care...

Monday, November 04, 2013

I did pretty good today! I got this...

I managed to slice my finger open while cutting up potatoes for chowder. So I earned myself a trip to Urgent Care, and a 2+ hour delay on getting to eat. By the time we were finished at UC, there was no way I was coming home and making the chowder, so we decided to get something. BUT I was a good girl and got a grilled chicken sandwich and baked potato. {I know, high on carbs, but I really wanted that potato!} I'm still under my calorie goal for the day, despite having a huge monkey wrench thrown in my plans. I was SO tempted to get Greek, but I talked myself out of using a wounded finger as an excuse to be a piggy, and got healthy... or mostly healthy... food instead.

Also... exercise! I slept stupidly late... again... but I drug myself outside in the middle of the afternoon and "ran" {walked} from zombies again. I was pretty proud of myself for getting out there. I REALLY wasn't in the mood, but I wanted to be able to get on here tonight and say I did it... so, I did it. 38 minutes. 2 minutes more than normal, but that's largely because I wasn't moving as fast as I generally do, apparently. I walked almost the same distance I always do, maybe a tiny bit farther. But in any case, I got in a good workout. My ass was draggin' when I got home, but I survived it, and am probably even better for it. {Okay... definitely...}

I'm gonna get my behind out there tomorrow, too! Tomorrow is election day, but considering it's an off, off year, I suspect the line at the polls will be... non-existant... and I will not have a problem finding time to workout and vote, and make my chowder. I suspect dh and I will be the only 2 people voting at our polling location. We always are in off, off years. Makes quick work of our civic duty! So there will be ample time to get in another workout. Also, it is supposed to be unseasonably warm tomorrow, so I certainly have no excuse to stay inside!

Now it's time to start hoping I can sleep tonight. I slept way too much last night/today, and I will probably pay the price for it tonight. Hopefully I'll get a few hours of sleep, at least.

Hope everyone had a great Monday!

    Do you have a food processor to chop the spuds? I am glad you are okay though.. might want to let DH chop them before he hits the hay for the day and you can just add them as needed...

    Well except for the sliced finger I would say that you had a good day. You are consistently making good nutrition choices and getting in exercise. And you are working on that important component of trying to get in the right amount of sleep, though I understand that is difficult, but it looks like it is getting better for you!

    Enjoy your civic duty, and whatever sleep you do get I hope you have energy when you rouse yourself!!!

    Ouch! I always have my bleeding accidents in the kitchen - I think I'm cursed! Hope the finger doesn't hurt you too bad today.

    Chowder sounds really good, although I've never personally eaten it. The thought of creamy soup and comfort food is really appealing now that the weather has turned off cool.

    I'm really proud of you for getting out there and walking again. It's amazing what a little accountability will do for you - knowing that you wanted to say you did it made you do it! Talk about a paradox. Keep up the good work cause you keep me motivated to do the same.

    Oh dear!! Hope it doesn't hurt to bad.I love your new background!! I don't have the foggiest idea how to do anything cool like that. It's so darn cute!!! Ric's surgery was successful. They were able to do it with a scope, so he has 5 little incisions instead of a huge one. They got the cancer and said his liver looks good - the chemo is doing a good job on the cancer there. Hope you have a good day tomorrow!! Hugs
