Blog #2 on 3-week blog quest - "I CAN meet Goals I! Set."

Monday, November 04, 2013

2. Imagine you have met your new short- or medium-term goal or challenge. What would you like to say happened for you while you were working toward that goal?

Why the "!" after the word I? Well, too many times when one is a stay at home mom and the hub of the wheel for so many other people, whose goals are whom's can get confusing. Getting a kid's college applications off on time, preparing a nice holiday gathering or getting through a full day of chores....are these my goals? Not really.

So I have made some short term goals - just for me. And, when I am successful and look back, I will find that it is OK to set personal goals and it is OK to meet those goals. I will feel happy and accomplished. I am concerned that I may need and not get the "great job" feedback from those closest to me but, I am going to have to get through that. I need to realize that if they are my goals, I am the most important one to pat myself on the back.

I am hoping that with each attainment of my short term goals that I will build confidence to set longer-term goals - especially goals beyond my health and household - goals to "do something." That something may be joining as a volunteer in an organization or even run for School Board someday.

Little steps in achieving goals ... the building blocks to bigger and better things.

Good for you. IT is called trying to find your path, your vision for what you want your life to look like. I dn't have any goals. I live day to day just making sure that I make it thru the day. I wish I had some personal goals. I have been reading the news paper in the mornings so I guess that is a goal of mine to be more informed.I have been pretty successful in that for the past 3 weeks.
good luck in your journey and keep us posted, we will cheer you on!

Go you!!! Set those personal goals and make them a priority. You will find the time for the rest of the family/household goals.

Yes, it's hard to make goals when you are so good at helping everyone else meet theirs. Good for you for taking time to set some of your own.
