Falling Back into Comfortable Places
Sunday, November 03, 2013
Get ready for a ramble; I haven't posted a blog in at least three weeks and I wanted to get back in the swing of a Sunday blog.
I've been on an inward spiral lately now that I'm done chasing those last nice weather days. (This inward spiral is actually good news for me, a returning to myself.) The first half of October was a beautiful time, sunny and 70's every day. What an extra blessing! Now most days are cold, gloomy and rainy and I find myself heading to a quieter interior place. Every day I write down some great idea for a blog but then I don't have the ambition or want to spend the time on following it through. (I know that my low energy level and the weather are directly connected.) However, things are changing now that the darkness outside will be with us for more hours of the day; I'm feeling compelled (or perhaps propelled?) to explore some new creative avenues that are making themselves available to me. It's always about timing and the increased time spent indoors will allow me to spend more time writing (there's certainly no shortage of blog ideas in my journal!) and also to explore all the opportunities that wait for me!
I'm participating in a Positive Bloggers Challenge this month, daily answering these questions:
"1. What one thing are you thankful for this day?
2. What random act of kindness did you do today? ( and no, this isn't about tooting your own horn, it's about making you aware each day that you could be a blessing in someone's life. Big or small...acts of kindness always create an amazing result). Share what you did, as it just may help someone else say "hey, I could do that too".
3. What act of kindness did someone do for you today? How did you feel?"
This challenge is right up my alley and while I find the first two questions so easy to answer, it's the third question that I have to work on. I really have to be observant to discover the many ways people do kind things for me. I encountered this sentence in an email I received from a meditation website and I included it in my journal because it's so perfect for me and it stayed in my mind the whole day after I received it.
"Gratitude: another word for love."
My first two days of the Positive Bloggers challenge has reminded me that there is so much love in this world, always so easy to give and not so easy to receive. Recognizing how often love is given to me is going to be a goal for me this month!
So that's where I've been and where I'm going! I'm sure most of you used today's extra hour to sleep in but since my body doesn't recognize the end of Daylight Savings Time I was up at the usual time and now I'm an hour ahead of schedule! I'm sure this will all catch up with me later on today so I'll bet there's an afternoon nap in my future!
It's a great day to be grateful!!
