Today was another great day! For some reason, I woke up at about 4:00 a.m. and didn't fall back to sleep until a little before 6:00 a.m., and proceeded to sleep until 8:45!! But I enjoyed every minute of that sleep!
By the time I got breakfast cooked and served, it was too late to walk - the humidity was high today and it a lot warmer than yesterday. I opted to mow the lawn, front and back - Not as many steps as my walk, but a pretty good workout, nonetheless!
Around 12:00 noon, the UPS truck pulled up in front of my house and delivered my new 4 cylcle Mantis tiller! For those of you who don't know about these things, it comes "partially assembled." Since I had to pick my son up at the college at 1:00 p.m., and take him to the Sprint store, I put the box in the house, and had my morning snack.
After the Sprint store, we had lunch at Firehouse Subs - I think they're a little pricey, personally, but lunch out with my son is worth it, and besides, we were hungry! We got home around 3:00 p.m., and I took the box out to the patio with some tools and proceeded to assemble the tiller. Actually, the tiller is a piece of cake to assemble - it's the damn kick stand from Hell that takes the most time! Whoever designed this thing assumes that you're a man with every possible wrench and a jack stand to hold the tiller while you work on it!
Finally, I got it together, and put the oil in it. Tomorrow, I'll get some fresh gas, get it started, and get some tilling done. I've got this weekend to get a good sized area of the garden ready for planting some cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower, celery, and a few other things. At the end of this month and into December, I'll be planting lettuce, spinach, and potatoes. Then I start planning for the Spring crops. Like I've said before, Florida has a year-round growing season.
This week off has been pretty decent. My boss has only called me twice, which is two times too many. And both times for stuff that can wait until Monday. Last night, I get a text at 11:04 p.m. (this is probably why I woke up at 4:00 a.m!!) telling me to check my email for something important, which I promptly ignored and went back to sleep. This morning, I find two "To Do" lists in my email, which I have totally ignored and refuse to even look at until Monday when I get to work. What an a$$hole! He just doesn't get the meaning of "personal time" at all.
So now, I'm winding down for the night, getting ready for bed, and hoping I can sleep well enough to get up early enough for a walk!
