Catching up, peddling and remember your clocks

Friday, November 01, 2013

Thanks for all the warm birthday wishes and encouraging comments. It was quiet, and that's all I'm really up for these days. Sorry to hear about those who don't enjoy them. I don't make a big fuss, but as is evidenced by the fact that I announced it here, I do make a fuss. Or, rather, like to have one made. Thanks for cooperating.

The new second job seems to be working out. I get to work with real customers next week. I'm still tweaking the sleep schedule and working out meals. On the bright side, the boss is shifting my start time by 15 minutes to give me a few more to get there on time. It was a very tight commute. Less stress is always a good thing.

On the Spark People side, I managed to drop a couple pounds I wasn't really expecting. I've been maintaining. I've learned that one of the keys to consistency is being mentally engaged. That's THINKING, for short. Coasting doesn't accomplish much, and I've been coasting a lot. Kind of like bike riding. You're only working if you're peddling. You may get some distance if you're coasting, but eventually you're going to stop. Got to engage.

I'm sure you'll get sick of hearing it, but a reminder to those affected, daylight savings time ends at 2AM on Sunday. Remember to turn those clocks back.

Like the coasting and peddling reference. It says a lot - and brilliantly so.

Congrats on the extra 2 pound weight loss. You must have been peddling some between the coasting. emoticon

Your pedal/coast analogy crystalized into words the times when I am successful!

I expected my journey to look like those downward diagonal line charts. Consistent downward arrow line going from top left corner to bottom right.

Instead, my journey is more like slow pedaling graduating to furious spinning pace then coasting....... Repeat.....

I was a bit freaked out by my plateau coasting times until I figured out my pattern. Just couldn't put into words until now~
