Fitness Update Wednesday

Guess what day it is? What day is it today? HUUUUMMMMPPP DAAAYYYYY!! Yeah-Yeahhhhh!

I'm definitely glad it is Wednesday because, sheesh, this week has just been dragging by as far as work hours go. I feel like today should be Thursday at the very least, but alas, it is merely Wednesday. So let's take a moment to celebrate that we are at least getting over the hump today. And tomorrow? Well, tomorrow is Halloween! The evil candy day and the kick-off to the holiday season (although not if you're talking about the stores or TV because I've already seen a Christmas commercial and the stores have been decked out since mid-September when they put away the back-to-school stuff...so yeah. Anywhoo...let's talk FITNESS for a few.

I wasn't sure last week if I liked Active Recovery Week or absolutely hated it. Well, I think I decided after Monday and Tuesday of this week and feeling like I'm back to kickin' bootay that I hated it. I know it is necessary, but my brain just really, really likes feeling like it is on fire. And I didn't feel that at all during AR week. So I'm going to work on adjusting that thinking when I get to the next one...and perhaps by then when I am 8 weeks into half training I will be able to enjoy myself and appreciate the break. But until then, I'm happy to be back to challenging workouts this week!

emoticon Thursday, October 24 - This was an easy 3 mile run that ended up just being me & my mom for that day and it was great. I had new shoes to break in and even though I walked more often than usual I still hit the target pace and got all the miles in.

emoticon Friday, October 25 was supposed to be a strength training day but my body was just so sore the entire week I made the executive decision on Friday morning to do some intense stretching instead. So I did a 25 minute foam rolling workout that is on my Stretching app from LOLO Fitness. And it made such a HUGE difference. I'm glad I made that choice. And can I just add how disappointed I am that there isn't a foam roller emoticon??

emoticon Saturday, October 26 - We have 4 easy miles on the schedule so we met up at my house (mom & sis both there this time) and got it done. I was still breaking in the new shoes and because I circle back a lot I actually had cramping in toes and foot towards the end. OUCH! But I got it done and was within the pace range, so yay.

emoticon Monday, October 28 - Finally back to a regular week of workouts I had 3 miles at an easy pace on the schedule and full body strength. Done and done.

emoticon Tuesday, October 29 - This was a VO2 Max Workout that was supposed to be 5 miles total with 14x400 meters at 5k pace and 2:00 rest intervals between each set with a warm-up and cool-down (of course). Well, I woke up a little later than I should have so I adjusted on the fly by doing a 3/4 mile warm-up, 10x400 all at 5k pace with the 2 minute rest intervals in between and then a 1/4 mile cool-down. All in all I put in 1 hour and 3 minutes and 4.5 miles so I'm more than satisfied with it.

emoticon Wednesday, October 30 - yoga day! Did a 20-minute session and feel great!

So there you have it - I have hit all my workouts this past week! emoticon

That's fantastic that you are fitting all of that activity into your life! I wish I could take a page from your book and fill my life up like that. Hopefully I will shortly - that's the plan anyway. Thanks for the inspiration!! emoticon
