Surgery (again!) :(

So I am facing another surgery (the second one in 5 months!), this time on my left shoulder. I've been ordered to stay away from ice hockey and soon will have to give up running for a while. It's got me reflecting on things.
So many things have happened to me in the last couple of months, some good and some bad. I've tried to stay on track for the most part with my nutrition through it all. It helps that I am accountable on a weekly basis to a registered dietitian and on a monthly basis to my doctor. Despite that, I have gone off track at times, but not too far. I'm no longer doing the low carb experiment since the RD was concerned that would wreck my metabolism. I think the added carbs have definitely helped my running performance (I got a PR in the Columbus half marathon on 10/20!) and in ice hockey (while it lasted).
I'm not sure how things will go after this surgery. I just hope I can maintain my current weight until I am allowed to be active again. I've got a lot coming up in the next 6 months with the Army, so I need to be physically ready. The main challenges now will be complying with the doctors' and therapist's orders (I'm an impatient patient), successfully completing my Biostatistics class, and being ready for whatever the Army requires of me.
