Survived a Road Trip

Sunday, October 27, 2013

Wow I made it home! I had one glitch in my trip but otherwise stayed on the IP program.
The glitch - fiance and I went to visit his best friend from childhood. We were expecting the usual for dinner, a roast + veggies, or a bbq. Something like that.

Fiance had mentioned to them that I was on a diet and that was why I specifically wanted to just get home to our hotel room instead of staying at their house. I have my own foods to eat.

Oops, that lead to the host making a unique healthy meal. It just wasn't protocol. She made a delicious quinoa patty and asparagus. When most people hear the word "diet" they think that must mean low fat low calories. There was almost no protein and tonnes of carbs. I could tell she had put a lot of work into this and if I didn't smile and eat we might very well lose the best man from our wedding party. Worth it, I just ate it. It was delicious. I tried to get the picture out of my head of my pancreas going into panic mode. My fiance kept looking sideways at me because he knew this meal wasn't right for me, not to mention that he never experiments with food himself. emoticon

Day after, I'm crashing. Starving and weak. I got home and am making my evening meal early. My body needs real meat protein. I'm very surprised that my local grocery had cheap lamb. Yummy, lamb with real mint, mushrooms and spinach. My body will reset. Life goes on.

I remembered to be thankful and gracious. I made it home safe and did my best on the trip
