Anyone that has a pet...lost a pet...loves animals will be able to relate....
Facebook has allowed me to reconnect to an old school friend. We were very close in our junior high years. Annette and I have always been alike, but she has more intensity to her personality than I do. Yes, she has a very dry witty sense of humor, but her humor is filled with intellect. Naturally, I was NOT surprised to learn that she is a college professor at a major university. She quite frankly stimulates your mind.
She lives alone and loves cats as much as I do. Her long time baby just recently passed away. She died in the loving arms of her mama.
I was worried about my friend. I was.
She wondered if it was too soon to adopt another one. She didn't want to replace her beloved Abby. I could NOT stress enough how she was not replacing Abby, but giving another loved one a chance to have a loving home.
She was seriously considering adopting a 4 year old female cat. The previous mother was elderly and alone and had passed away. The cat was alone and bewildered. Very shy.
I tried to convince her that older cats are wonderful. I have always gone with kittens....so I do understand that thought process, but after rescuing Dusty, who was near a year, I have no regrets. She has been the best cat ever...smart...appreciative...
...love her to death. PLUS...I told Annette...this cat needs you as well.
I kept watching her FB status today....for today was the day she was going to go look and meet this cat.
I literally cried when I saw pictures of her new one.....she named her WINNIE...because they are both winners with having found each other.
WInnie seems to have already adjusted and has quite the purr.
It feels good to read the joy in Annette's posts and see the numerous pics she has already been sharing.
