Lazy Long Weekend

Saturday, October 26, 2013

This week there was no school Thursday or Friday. Thursday I worked quite a few hours, though, interpreting for parent-teacher conferences, but that was fun and different from the regular routine (although I like regular days fine, too.) Today I had the day off. I originally planned to go to the gym early to workout on the elliptical (something I only get to do on weekdays when school is closed), and then check out a couple used clothing shops, and do my Winco grocery shopping for the month. However, my son popped home from the university for a few hours, so I didn't want to miss the chance to be with him. We had fun laughing and talking and getting caught up on the happenings in our lives. He was busy cooking up a batch of enchiladas for a choir retreat, which was very nice of him, I thought, since he is a very dedicated Sparker and is not planning to eat any of them himself. He very responsibly packed his own food for the weekend, and is not planning on getting off track at all. I'm very proud of him. He has gone down from two hundred something to one seventy something just since June! His jeans were so baggy they were practically falling off, so I rummaged in his dad's drawers and found a pair of jeans that weren't messed up with paint stains, and THEY FIT (his dad weighs 165 or so). Boy, he was so pleased!
He didn't leave until almost 11 a.m., so my early workout/shopping idea was a bust. So instead I dropped by my daughter's for a bit of a visit, and then went to the gym. I actually ran non-stop on that elliptical for 35 minutes! I remember the first time I tried that machine I couldn't even do 5 minutes, I thought I would die. But I was fine with 35 minutes this time. Could've done more, but didn't need to.
When I got home I decided it was too late to do the grocery shopping thing today, so I got on my exercise bike and rode until I finished the novel I was reading (half an hour or so). Then I spent the rest of the day in flannel pajamas. Got a little done on finances, paid the property tax bill, made dinner, did the dishes, translated the next money management lesson. Just simple cozy tasks at home, not hurrying or stressing about anything. It was kind of nice. Tomorrow I can do the shopping. That's the great thing about 3 day weekends--more time to get stuff done, and more time to relax!
And last but definitely no least: I only have 9.4 more pounds to reach my final goal!!! I seriously thought that losing weight after age 50 was going to be impossible, but apparently that's just a myth. The plan is working just fine. I am so excited to meet the goal of NOT having a New Year's Resolution to lose weight!

WOW Good for your son, and what an inspiration to all of us. He is dedicated! I am also very impressed with what you have accomplished. Glad you took the time, instead of going away, to enjoy visiting with your son. You were able to accomplish a lot yesterday, Keep up your great work, and workout. YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!
