Grocery Success

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

I must admit I may switch grocery stores. I always shopped at the one I used to work at cause well, in small town wyoming we didn't have many options anyways. But I must admit, Fred Meyer has pretty good prices and so much to pick from in their store.

I am working on a budget that centers around Less Than 2, as in trying to buy things that are less than 2 dollars. I would say a 1 dollar budget but I do find great sales that are like 1.79 and those should count too. Only 1 item I bought today was just over 2 dollars, the rest were under. I know some do the recipes with how much it costs per serving. However, what I care about more is how much the grocery trip cost because one tsp of a spice is cheap but the whole bottle must be purchased first. So, hopefully I can post more of these Grocery Totals in the future.

Today's Purchases:

Over emoticon emoticon (meaning over 2 dollars)
pre-roasted sections of butternut squash from deli, cold

Less than emoticon emoticon (less than 2 dollars)
frozen sweet potato fries
frozen sweet potato squares
half seasoned fryer chicken (on clearance for 1.79)

emoticon or less (so 1 dollar or less)
6 things of picante beef ramen
i bag of frozen carrots
can of peas
can of green beans
1 bottle of powerade

A decent trip in general with a less than 13 dollar total.

That is the next step. I need to find an efficient, not costly way to get coupons as I don't have any currently and I don't get the newspaper.
