Lack of Sleep Can Make You Fat

I just read this really interesting article from "Self" magazine online about how lack of sleep can lead to being overweight. It also stated that even if you are exercising and tired it's not a good thing. Interesting as I am always tired. Right now, I think a lot of being tired is job related. I think once I feel comfortable in my job I will be sleeping better. I went to bed last night at 9:30, which really is the time I should be going to bed. Still felt really sleepy today, dark, cool and rainy is enough to make anyone tired. Anyhow, came home and took a mini nap for about half an hour and feel rested. I am going to try to get to bed again early.
Going to the dr.'s tomorrow about my right foot. Have had some weird rash that burns and doesn't want to go away and my big toe has been hurting really bad, especially in the morning. The toe thing could be arthritis or too much salt, not sure, will let dr. advise. Also, am going to discuss maybe different meds for stress, anxiety as apparently the ones I am on are maybe not enough right now. I thought I would be ok, but so much is going on.

    Hope your foot is doing better soon! emoticon What you say is so true! I've been putting off doing my 2 hours exercise for the Fall 5% Challenge till 10 pm, mainly because I was up 24 hours for a week writing a poetry book for a contest that happens only every 2 years and then I'm up all night playing on the computer. Then I take a long nap in the day and really can't get up til late in the day, making it harder to exercise before 9. But there IS HOPE! Last night I got 13 hours sleep in (mainly because they suspended my Twitter account). But I have great sympathy for you because it is much harder with a family. You might want to try several different methods for testing low thyroid as it doesn't show all the time and makes you very tired. There is The Official Better Sleep Challenge on the challenges page. You might want to try it if you haven't already. I tried it but couldn't keep up with the journaling but you would probably have better luck, hopefully. Best wishes with your challenges, Emmy :)

    Sleep really is critical for weight loss and overall health. I know this but I still find it hard to get a full eight hours most nights. emoticon
