weekend update

What a beautiful, fun weekend. We took the family to the pumpkin patch, a tradition since 2008. It just gets better and better every year. It's also good for lots of steps. BUT I forgot my FitBit that day. Sigh. The maze this year is 6 miles. 6! We opted not to do it this year since we found all the check points last year. It took us a long time- time we didn't have this year.

Madness I tell ya. Just mad enough that I might go back by myself and do it. :-)

Sunday, Wonder Boy and I did a ColorFest 5k. Mentone is celebrating her annual colorfest weekend and my favorite Org sponsored a 5k. Who could ask for more. I managed to twist my ankle coming out of a very fast slide Saturday. I spent the evening icing it while we watched movies. It was all better by morning but oddly enough, my other ankle bothered me. No worries, we finished and it's all good. Good, good fun. AND the color, oh my. I just love color.

Of course since it was a chilly morning, a little hot cocoa I promised at the end helped get us through.

Then we came home and lunched on a bunch of roasted root veggies, couscous, and sauteed spinach and argula...

This morning, I dropped the boy off at carpool and proceeded to the park for a speed hike, pushups, side plank oblique rotations, tricep dips, stepups, walking lunges, side lunges with oblique dips, and stretching. May I recommend those side plank oblique rotations (the very same I groused about last week)? They're particularly good to let you know your core is alive and well. Especially the next day.
