Update on the road to better health

The past few weeks have been very hectic. It is back to school time making it extremely busy at work. Living in a student town the & being the manager of a school bus business always makes this a busy time of year but in addition to this I have been going through some more testing preparing for WLS. Although I do not snore & there are no real reasons to suspect sleep apnea the clinic has everyone go for a sleep study test.
I was shocked when I was told I had sleep apnea. I still think it may have been because of the uncomfortable bed that made it impossible for me to change position during the night. My thought is if I can get better sleep with this machine why not.
So for 2 weeks I was on a machine that tested my needs for a CPAP machine. Now I have my own machine & I am trying to get use to it. I find the straps rise up on the side of my face catching my ears & making me uncomfortable. I kind of like having the air going up my nose it is hard to catch my breath for a few seconds but after that I don’t notice it.
I have found some great videos on YouTube explaining all the things I need to know about sleep apnea & the machine & other equipment I use. www.sleepmapper.com has more information about the machine & there is an app I can use to get my readings, set goals & send reports to my doctor. The bonus for me using the CPAP machine is that I have add sinus problems (due to an accident) where my sinuses would bleed during the night & I would wake up all stuffed up. This no longer happens; I know this is due to the humidification of the machine. I have been told that as I use the machine more & more I am going to start feeling the benefits of better sleep & more energy. I can’t wait.
