I am getting more and more fascinated by info about exercising in water. I personally am sold on it. I am delighted to find actual scientific research on it. Many people think of it as "whimpy" exercise. It might look a little easy and slow paced, but it can be done . as I say, "with gusto" and become a very good workout!

    My mom actually found it first. She, at 74 has gotten into really good shape using the program, and me, at almost 44, feel the benefits too. I was running, but after a few 5Ks, a 10K and a 5 mile trail run, my plantar faciitis became too painful unfortunately, so I turned back to water based workouts. I'm actually a certified lifeguard and swim instructor because I work at my kids' sleep away camp over the summer on swim staff. I'm really enjoying using the aqua belt and water gym even though the first few times I did it, I felt a little weird. The reality though is that I know I'm getting my heart rate up quite a bit more than when I was swimming laps. I do this workout about 3 times a week and use my elliptical on the other days.

    HI fellow water exercisers! I wanted to share with you a program I recently found out about and started. It's called Water Gym.

    It's a deep water 45 min workout that is aerobic, strengthening and stretching combined. I didn't know that water running burned more cals than road running, but I definitely see how this workout is really affective when I give it my all.

    It comes with a deep water belt and a DVD and guided workout routine with music. I also bought a water proof iPod shuffle from audio flood. It's so cool!!
    It's a shuffle that has a water proof coating so you can use it in water.

    Anyway, it looks like there are a number of you who workout in water, so I thought this would be of interest to you.

    This info is SOOOOOO great since I miss running so much, but pool running might be an option for me. Since circulation is a huge issue for my body, this is one more reason to try pool workouts!

    Thanks for this- I have been having trouble exercising "on land" due to foot injury, so I am now turning to the water!
